We have been retained by a local CPA firm to identify experienced Business Tax Managers to join their leadership team.

As a Tax Manager you will play an important role in both delivering exceptional services to clients, as well as helping develop and mentor internal professional staff.  Our client firm offers team members access to state of the art technology, the finest research tools, and fun, friendly and collaborative cultures.  They are ranked in the top twenty in the Twin Cities and provide great career opportunities for highly experienced tax professionals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for supervising staff to achieve project profitability, building teams, and developing individuals.
  • Identifies and implements tax planning and consulting opportunities
  • Reviews complex tax returns for small to medium sized business, high net worth individuals, trusts & estates, and foundations
  • Manages client tax relationships and reviews client tax calculations
  • Supervises and develops staff
  • Manages, directs and monitors multiple client engagements as well as serves as a business advisor to clients
  • Identifies and assists with implementation of tax planning and tax savings strategies
  • Researches and consults on complex tax matters
  • Develops and owns client relationships with a variety of clients in various industries
  • Manages multiple teams and provides performance feedback to all members of those teams
  • Anticipates and addresses client concerns and resolves problems as they arise
  • Promotes new ideas and business solutions that result in extended services to existing clients
  • Keeps abreast of latest developments and the firm’s standards and policies
  • Keeps abreast of industry developments and their effects on client’s competitive position
  • Communicates effectively with clients
  • Communicates with engagement leaders regarding open items or other important matters in a timely manner
  • Works within budgets and deadlines

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • BS in Accounting required, Masters in Taxation or other advanced degree is a plus
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) required
  • Minimum of six (6) years of progressive experience in public accounting or corporate/public blend

  • Work independently and take initiative, anticipating and resolving problems
  • Consolidated C-Corp, partnership, S-Corp, Individual and multi-state experience
  • Ability to develop strong client relationships
  • Possess effective writing, communication and tax research skills
  • Ability to mentor and develop staff
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and clients
  • Proficient with technology
  • Interest in generating new revenue

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) preferred.
Experience:
• Served as a Staff Accountant or similar experience.
Production:
• Meet firm standard for chargeable hours and realization.

Skills/Abilities:
